Madrona Gallery is excited to announce its partnership with Victoria's award winning Oak Bay Beach Hotel to showcase a variety of contemporary and historic fine art.

Guests and clients alike are encouraged to visit the hotel and enjoy this newest installation, which can be found in the Grand Lobby, The Snug, The Dining Room, and throughout the mezzanine level.

The first exhibition was installed in late June 2022, with installations rotating quarterly.

Terry Fenton has been exploring landscape painting of the Prairies and West Coast for over 30 years. Having been a part of and an advocator of the Modernist movement, Fenton's landscapes use non-conventional design choices to push the tradition of landscape painting.

He is the former director of the Edmonton Art Gallery (from 1972-1987), the A.C. Leighton Foundation, Calgary (1987-1993) and the Mendel Art Gallery, Saskatoon (1993-1997). In addition to numerous private and corporate collections in Canada the US and England, his work is represented in the collections of the Canada, Council Art Bank, the Alberta Foundation for the Arts, the Mendel Art Gallery in Saskatoon, the Edmonton Art Gallery, and the Norman Mackenzie Art Gallery in Regina.

Born in BC, Madeleine Wood studied Fine Arts at Emily Carr Institute of Art and earned a Masters in Fine Arts from Concordia University in 1996. Her work has been collected extensively in Canada, the United States, Hong Kong and Europe. This will be her fourth solo exhibition with Madrona Gallery.

Madrona Gallery is pleased to present "Real Cloud", a solo exhibition of works from Luke Ramsey. This newest collection is inspired by the natural world and centers around the desire to be physically present in a time when more time is being spent online within the "digital cloud".

Ramsey is internationally recognized for his art and design work. He describes his work as, "Organized chaos - a play with paradoxical themes. The content is influenced by a beautifully strange cosmos of organisms and comedy. The approach needs to feel fluid and not forced."

Ramsey served as the City of Victoria's first artist in residence from 2017-2018 and his work is held in numerous private and public collections, including the permanent collection of the City of Seattle.

Madrona Gallery is pleased to present a solo exhibition of 14 specially chosen works from Nell Bradshaw. Bradshaw was born in California in 1904 and later moved to Canada at the age of 9. Largely self-taught, Bradshaw was inspired by A.Y. Jackson, Tom Thomson, Paul Klee, Van Gogh, and First Nations carvers. Bradshaw began painting full-time in 1964 and would establish herself as a skilled artist whose totem paintings were known worldwide. This will be the first major solo exhibition of Bradshaw's work held in over twenty years and will highlight the works that brought her international recognition.

Harry Stanbridge studied painting with Don Jarvis and Takao Tanabe at the Vancouver School of Art (now the Emily Carr College of Art + Design) from 1963 to 1968. Clayton Anderson was born and raised in West Vancouver, British Columbia. Between 1984 and 1988 Anderson earned a degree in Visual Communications from the Alberta College of Art & Design. After a brief experience in the advertising department of Western Living and Vancouver magazines Anderson turned to painting exclusively in 1991.

A respected artist in the middle east, this Iraqi born artist immigrated to Canada in 2009, currently living in Vancouver. Hashim Hannoon graduated from the Institute of Fine Arts-Baghdad in 1979. He received his Bachelor of Sculpture from the College of Fine Arts-Baghdad in 1999 and is a Member of Iraqi Artistic Forming Assembly and the Babylon Assembly of French Arts.

Kudluajuk Ashoona was born in Cape Dorset on December 2, 1958 to Kabubuwa and Tayara Tunnillie, both well known carvers. Adopted by the family of celebrated graphic artist, Simeonie Quppapik, she started to seriously pursue art in 2011, after being inspired to draw by her daughter Nicotye Samayualie.

Kudluajuk’s art is very literal, exploring contemporary family life, leisure activities, and communal gatherings focusing on its narrative.

Nicholas Bott studied art at the University of British Columbia and holds a diploma from the Chicago School of Art. Inspired by the loose style of Vincent Van Gogh and the Canadian Group of Seven, and blending his traditional European values with contemporary developments of the new world, his paintings have evolved continuously into the post-impressionistic style of his current work.  Bott distills the landscape elements of the West Coast and Rocky Mountains into powerful aesthetic compositions to communicate a sense of the sublime.  His work is held in collections across North America.

Her drawings break from tradition and challenge stereotypes by incorporating references to the past and present alongside her own highly imaginative and individual subject matter. Internationally, she is recognized as one of Canada’s premier artists.
