Bowen Island based artist Susannah Montague creates sculptures that push the boundaries of ceramics as a medium. Juxtaposing the beautiful and macabre, she uses historical references and contemporary life to create vessels for her narratives. Montague draws upon current socio-political events, feminism, and her own personal experiences while demonstrating an exceptional understanding of technique and the history of ceramics.

Terry Fenton has been exploring landscape painting of the Prairies and West Coast for over 30 years. Having been a part of and an advocator of the Modernist movement, Fenton's landscapes use non-conventional design choices to push the tradition of landscape painting.

He is the former director of the Edmonton Art Gallery (from 1972-1987), the A.C. Leighton Foundation, Calgary (1987-1993) and the Mendel Art Gallery, Saskatoon (1993-1997). In addition to numerous private and corporate collections in Canada the US and England, his work is represented in the collections of the Canada, Council Art Bank, the Alberta Foundation for the Arts, the Mendel Art Gallery in Saskatoon, the Edmonton Art Gallery, and the Norman Mackenzie Art Gallery in Regina.

Working with the Onley estate, this exhibition of never before seen work highlights Onley’s innate ability to distill the most important parts of landscape into a powerful visual language. Onley’s love of travel unites this collection of work, ranging from the landscapes of his home on the west coast, to those of Europe, England, and across North America. His distinctive handling of the landscape has left a lasting legacy in Canadian art and continues to capture the interest of collectors across Canada.

In her first solo exhibition at Madrona Gallery, Tamara Bond reflects on identity, memory, nature, motherhood, and her own personal experiences. Susie Saila has established herself as a leading upcoming artist in Kinngait NU. She has been immersed in art her entire life. Her father is acclaimed contemporary carver Toonoo Sharky R.C.A. Her grandfather is Meekeeseetee Saila, Her great Grandfather is Pauta Saila R.C.A. Susie started drawing in 2018 and quickly established a distinct and notable style.

Lawrence Paul Yuxweluptun is an internationally celebrated artist. His work was the subject of a major solo exhibition organized by the University of British Columbia's Museum of Anthropology in 2016, and has been included in exhibitions around the world. A graduate of Emily Carr University of Art + Design, Yuxweluptun has established himself as an artist that confronts viewers with powerful messages that call out injustices while constantly pushing forward creatively.

Midnight Walk is a collection of works centred around the theme of observation and finding different stories or meaning in the day-to-day, whether its the people we meet or places we go. Wallace creates a beautiful tension in his paintings, letting viewers unpack stories and mentally wander through the work, going on a sort of midnight walk of their own.

Madrona Gallery is pleased to present a solo exhibition of new paintings by Madeleine Wood.

Focusing on closeups of nature, Wood's masterful use of rich, vibrant colours, creates warm and intimate canvases that invite the viewer directly into the abstraction of nature. She captures sharp, exquisite, and dramatic details and patterns often overlooked, with underlying themes of renewal and growth.

Born in BC, Madeleine Wood studied Fine Arts at Emily Carr Institute of Art and earned a Masters in Fine Arts from Concordia University in 1996. Her work has been collected extensively in Canada, the United States, Hong Kong and Europe. This will be her fourth solo exhibition with Madrona Gallery.

Madrona Gallery is pleased to present a solo exhibition of new paintings by Clayton Anderson.

Inspired by iconic Canadian painters such as Emily Carr and Lawren Harris, Anderson's paintings demonstrate a strong understanding of composition as well as a subtle yet luminescent rendering of light. His work evokes a distinct power of place. He is known for his landscapes of the south west coast of BC. Over the past two decades, Clayton's work has found its way into collections throughout North America, Europe and Asia.

For this exhibition, Diana Thorneycroft created highly detailed drawings in response to recent world events. Her works, whether they are illustrated in a playfully surreal way or are highly representational, depict the physical and emotional impact of the forces around us. As a result, these drawings encourage viewers to reflect upon how shared tragedy and personal interactions impact their own day-to-day life.

In its annual holiday exhibition, Madrona Gallery features new works from gallery artists and staff favourites. “Shelter” features a collection of works that explore the idea of home through objects, location, feeling, and form. These works explore a world presented by the artist while allowing viewers to explore their relation to that created space, enabling them to impart their own experience and memories onto the work.

This exhibition curated by Brittany Scarfe will feature works from the gallery’s stable of artists, including Meghan Hildebrand, Rick Bond, Megan Dietrich, Brad Pasutti, Corrinne Wolcoski, Kudluajuk Ashoona, and many others.

Madrona Gallery is pleased to present "Adapt", a solo exhibition of new works by Guthrie Gloag. This highly anticipated exhibition is his third solo exhibition with Madrona Gallery and will include a new collection of his exceptional driftwood sculptures. These human or animal figures are made entirely of unaltered pieces of driftwood with no underlying support. From the movement and features of the figures to the pieces of thoughtfully placed driftwood, Gloag brings life and a unique persona to each piece he creates.

Madrona Gallery is pleased to present "Real Cloud", a solo exhibition of works from Luke Ramsey. This newest collection is inspired by the natural world and centers around the desire to be physically present in a time when more time is being spent online within the "digital cloud".

Ramsey is internationally recognized for his art and design work. He describes his work as, "Organized chaos - a play with paradoxical themes. The content is influenced by a beautifully strange cosmos of organisms and comedy. The approach needs to feel fluid and not forced."

Ramsey served as the City of Victoria's first artist in residence from 2017-2018 and his work is held in numerous private and public collections, including the permanent collection of the City of Seattle.

Madrona Gallery is pleased to present a solo exhibition of 14 specially chosen works from Nell Bradshaw. Bradshaw was born in California in 1904 and later moved to Canada at the age of 9. Largely self-taught, Bradshaw was inspired by A.Y. Jackson, Tom Thomson, Paul Klee, Van Gogh, and First Nations carvers. Bradshaw began painting full-time in 1964 and would establish herself as a skilled artist whose totem paintings were known worldwide. This will be the first major solo exhibition of Bradshaw's work held in over twenty years and will highlight the works that brought her international recognition.

This collection of paintings explores the unique aesthetics of West Coast Modern art. Artists such as Jack Shadbolt (1909-1998), Takao Tanabe (1926-), Maxwell Bates (1906-1980), Toni Onley (1928-2004), Don Jarvis (1923 - 2001) and Flemming Jorgensen (1934-2009) all contributed to bringing new ideas to visual arts in this region.

In Pocket Estates, Hildebrand presents a collection of large scale works incorporating new techniques to her distinct style of repetitive improvised symbolic motifs.
