MADELEINE WOOD: GROWTH PATTERNS

MARCH 15 - 29 2014

Madrona Gallery is pleased to announce its second solo exhibition of the acclaimed artist Madeleine Wood. The exhibition of recent oil paintings is built around Wood's exploration of the Arbutus tree and plant life indigenous to this region.

Madeleine Wood describes herself as a “painter of natural delights”. She studied Fine Arts at Emily Carr Institute of Art and earned a Masters in Fine Arts from Concordia University in 1996

Through her masterful use of rich, vibrant colours, her warm and intimate canvases invite the viewer directly into an abstraction of nature. She captures sharp, exquisite and dramatic details and patterns often overlooked with underlying themes of renewal and growth.

Madeleine Wood's art has been collected extensively in Canada, the United States, Hong Kong and Europe, and has appeared in shows at our gallery (2012), Ian Tan Gallery, Vancouver (2010), Galerie Bourget, Montreal (1996), and the CBC Television Studios in Vancouver (2003). She has won the Liguitex Excellence in Art University Award in 1994, and the Concordia University Graduate Studio Art Advisory Incoming Student Award in 1993.
